PALM AVE

Location: Orange, CA

Type: ADU

Sq Ft: 750

The client brief was to design a unique backyard rental, fitting 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room, and a full-sized kitchen within 750 square feet. To maintain privacy from the main house, we strategically positioned the building openings along the vine-covered rear property line, giving future renters their own quiet courtyard. Though the footprint is small, this building feels spacious because of the tall, sloped ceilings in each bedroom, a playful loft space in the main room, and a large opening to the yard for flow between indoor and outdoor space. This is phase one of the master plan for Palm Ave, phase two being renovation of the main house which is currently in progress.
